Children of Mana (and the rest of the Mana games that followed)

Let's be honest, Sword of Mana shat the bed first.  Or even Legend of Mana really.

At least those two games were made by the original Mana team.  And were playable.  Not just a weak Fushigi no Dungeon rip-off that probably was made in less than 2 months just to sell on the Mana name alone.

True, Everything after Seiken Densetsu 3 hasn't been as good as it.  But Legend of Mana and Sword of Mana were still okay in their own way.

I liked Legend of Mana quite a bit actually, but I can totally see how a Mana fanatic could not go for it.  The structure was really too out there.

Sword of Mana was absolute buggy shit though imo, and really desecrated Mana 1 (which was legitimately great).  It was at that point I knew Brownie Brown was all hype, no meat.  Heroes of Mana is probably the worst thing overall in the series too.

Children of Mana was okay I thought, but then I really liked Shining Soul and this was from basically the same guys at NEX/Nextech (minus the gorgeous pixel art from Grasshopper/Audio).  At worst though it was just a storyless dungeon crawler/loot 'em up, which is not all that different from most complaints hurled against Legend of Mana (even if the 2 are pretty different).

As far as Mana goes though, Dawn of Mana should really bear the brunt of H8, as it was the actual 4th sequel in the series.  And it was AWFUL. ;_;
