Putting aside the fact that I have never even heard of In Cold Blood I think Yakuza 3 was a great game with an entertaining story and great fighting system.
Although I never played the earlier Yakuza games I think it was very smart that you can watch the video back story from Yakuza 1 and 2 to get up to speed before starting Yakuza 3.
Only other possible gripe is the lack of English localisation with voice overs - but since I prefer Japanese language with English subtitles this was no problem.
Definitely think you should give it a try and let me know what you think.
