@lestatdark, oh ok. how do u get this shield then ?

of the 3 u mentioned are the best too start with, which one should i choose then? i will most likely follow your advise , because u know alot about demons souls, where as i dont know crap.

That shield is obtained right in the first stage of World 1. Problem is, it's in the dragon's nest, right next to the Red Dragon. To be able to obtain it, you must first defeat Phalanx and Tower Knight (the bosses from the first and second stage of world 1), without messing up the World Tendency of world 1.

For that purpose, you must play the game on soul form, as dying in Physical form, bring the World Tendency closer to Black, while dying on Soul Form doesn't affect the World Tendency. In order to get the Red dragon out of the nest, you need to do either of these two things:

- Kill it on stage 2 of World 1 (very unlikely to do at the start of the game)

- Achieve at least 40% White World Tendency on world 1. White World Tendency is achieved by defeating the Major Demons of each world (Stage Bosses) or by defeating Black Phantoms that invade you online. When you defeat Phalanx, you get a nifty 30% White World Tendency boost for all 5 of the game worlds. Defeating Tower Knight gives you another 30% for World 1 alone.
So that means that by defeating both those bosses and not dying as Physical form, you get 60% White World Tendency for world 1, which is more than enough to go back to stage 1 and get the Purple Flame Shield from near the Red Dragon nesting place.

Of course, these values are valid for offline play only, as playing online, World Tendencies are directly affected by the overall World Tendency of each individual player logged on in the server. So that means, that it's more likely to be close to grey (neutral) or to some small % of White World Tendency.

My advice is that you play the game offline to do World Tendency and Character Tendency events, that way you won't have to worry about other players messing up your Tendencies.

As for starting class, my recommendation to you is that you pick the Royalty class (although Thief is my personal favorite, it's a very hard class to start as, as you'll have the weakest Armour and have to rely on dodges alone to get you through the start of the game).

Royalty has a good Armour to start as, which is also light, meaning you can dodge efficiently, has a MP regeneration ring (small Regen effect, but good nonetheless) and starts with the Soul Arrow spell, which is invaluable against tough early on enemies, like the Blue Eyed Knight (even the Red Eyed Knight can be felled with it, using proper strategy). Not only that, Royalty also starts as Soul Level 1, meaning that you can then develop your character as you see fit, it's the perfect clean slate start to the game.
