| cAPSLOCK said: It's just the next era of gaming. I know it's hard for the PS generation to understand but there was actually generations before 1995. In fact, there's been shifts like motion control before such as bringing 3d into games and actually having a screen move (as opposed to nothing but static screens you move to and from). The 3d era had a TON of really horrible, crappy games. In fact if you look at any major tech jump you're going to see the same thing to a greater or lesser extent. The only difference is this time around the tech is being met with resistance from crying manbabies who would rather make the same played out shit they have for the last 15 years (only this time in HD!!!) than try something genuinely new. You really think after the success of the Wii that motion control won't become the new standard for all future generations? Yes, there will be more elegant solutions to motion gaming than wagglewaggle, and we'll probably see some interesting and significant jumps in technology, but it's a testament to how uncreative the video game industry is as a whole that we haven't seen new genres pop up. The industry outside of Nintendo is dying and catering to a smaller and smaller group, I sincerely doubt Sony and Microsoft are going to release another console where the standard control isn't some kind of motion controller. That era is dead and ironically the 2 most powerful consoles on the market are dinosaurs playing catchup to the weaker console, but evolution has never been about who is strongest and rather who adapts to change the best. |
Funny stuff seen as I have been gaming since the c64 days, not all the ps generation is ignorant like what you claim, infact I was there myself to witness the fall of gaming back in the atari days.
Honestly you are wrong about nintendo, all they have been doing is re-releasing mario and zelda for the past 20 years same story, different gameplay mechanics and some graphics upgrades.
Sony has actually brought more variety to gaming, which is why the ps dominated for two whole generations it was not just a simple graphic tweak as you suggested, we actually saw new things in games that was not simply possible on the SNES or anything before them, so sony innovate in their own way they do it by bringing us different games which are totally fresh and not just the same old rehash which get's forgotten because it's only kids that don't know that mario has been using the same formula for a long time, not that it's bad thing, but nintendo only innovated by changed the form of game controls .
Don't even bring xbox in here because it only caters towards one thing and it is the sad reason why we are all flooded with the same kind of game, yes it's the horrible FPS....
it's the future of handheld
