People acting like PS3 "exclusives" never made their way on the Xbox 360...
Hi @ Tekken Hi @ Final Fantasy XIII Hi @ Assassin's Creed Hi @ GTA IV Hi @ Devil May Cry IV Hi @ LA Noire
Look at the sales of Rockstar / Take Two games on 360... 800k for RDR in one week, outselling the PS3 version by more than 50%. GTA IV on 360 outselling the PS3 version by a decent margin as well.
3rd party exclusives doesn't make sense for any publisher with a userbase of 40 million on the rival platform. (excluding the Wii, it couldn't handle this game anyway)
Ohhh ok so you agree that Gears of war, Mass effect and All 3rd party 360 exclusives games should be on PS3 too right? they can't ignore 35m install base right?
If those games would come out for ps3... than Heavy Rain, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance would some day come out on 360 too since there not made by a first party developer also right??
Anyways.....As I said before 3rd party games are becoming extinct and this game will most likely be multi also
Heavy rain can if Quantic dreams wants it to but Resistance and Ratchet? you clearly dont know much about gaming do you? since pretty much every1 know Resistance and Ratchet is owned by SONY......you want Insomniac to get sued?
Gears, Mass effect and all valve games on the other hand is OWNED by their respective companies(Epic,EA,Valve) MS don't own those games you want proof here it is...
But M$ own the publishing rights to ME1, Gears 1&2 and by the looks of things Gears 3 to. Since ~M$ are the ones publishing the screenshots.
It's this that stops Gears 1&2 being ported. As well as ME1. Unless M$ sold the rights to EA for that game in return for ME2 and 3 exclusive for a year or 2?
M$ were smart. They didnt need to own the IP's. They ensured they owned the publishing rights. How long they keep them is anyones guess.
Microsoft holds the publishing rights to Ninja Gaiden II, yet a slight name change and some additional content allowed Tecmo to easily circumvent any contract they had with Microsoft and release Ninja Gaiden Sigma II on ps3.
The only way Microsoft or anybody else can guarantee permanent exclusivity is if they own the entire IP.
Of course, sometimes studios have other reasons why they will likely never go multiplat, ala Epic and Gears of War. Microsoft made the franchise what it is, and going behind Microsoft's back (thus abandonding their financial support and marketing muscle) would be foolish. Making Mass Effect multiplat, on the other hand, would cause EA little harm. The only question is whether they consider it worth it to port a game to ps3 over two years after the original and a year after the sequel have already been released. Mass Effect would probably sell even worse on ps3 than the original Bioshock. At this point it'd be a waste of time, imo.
