If there is a Uncharted film franchise in development, it would only make sense for Sony Pictures to produce the film since the game is made from the same company.

Sony's each subdivision is its own bananas and its own company and do not have to do something with a sister company just because they're also Sony. Want some examples?
- God of War movie rumored to be produced by Universal Pictures, a direct competitors of SPE.
- SPE movies show up on Zune/XBL marketplace and itunes video, direct competitors of PSN video, a SCE division.
- SME songs appear on Rockband, Guitar Hero, Lips, among others, all direct competitors to SCE's own Singstar, especially Lips.
There are plenty more, something Howard Stringer is trying to correct and bring them more together because from what we hear SCE negotiating with SPE or SME and vice versa is no different than negotiating with Paramount or Warner.

That's how things used to be, but thanks to the bolded things aren't quite that way anymore. Like Stringer merging of numerous divisions under two new main divisions, etc.
For the past year they've been doing their best to leverage the fact that they have a hand in so many markets to help themselves in other markets, and this should only continue.

I can't tell whether or not you're agreeing with me. The truth is Sony's subdivisions have always been considered separate entities and companies and have always been free to go out and deal with their own thing. Nina on the PSBlog even laments sometimes that they can't get more SME songs because "they are not SME".

I was basically agreeing. I was saying that the individual parts of Sony used to have trouble working together, which your examples highlight perfectly, but they're slowly coming around under Stringer's leadership, and over the past year Sony as a whole has become much more unified than they ever were before. I'm sure the changes Stringer has made allowed SPE to easily land the Uncharted movie (and I believe they also landed the Shadow of the Colossus movie last year) while SCE went with Universal for the God of War IP several years ago.
