Dtewi, what is it exactly don't you like about reading? I find myself always drowsy when I do read but I fight through it. Give the Sword of Truth series starter "Wizard's First Rule". When I first starting reading it (an 800-ish page book) I didn't find it interesting until the story began to pick up past page 50. That was at the start of March and it took me just over two months to clear eleven books of similar length of the series. It's different for other folks, I'm sure, but until you find your favorite book you're going to be stuck uninterested in reading.
Nothing can replace reading a good ol' book once you're really interested in the content! |
Reading has been a sore spot for teens(coincidentally my age group) and children since video games and music started to take over. There are bright spots though with Harry Potter being a smash hit and Twilight being successful, though I honestly don't think the latter deserved its popularity. I am glad that they are reading at all.
@dtewi
The Hunger Games is a really good book. Heck, very good is an understatement. Your school obviously knew that which is why they are "making you" read it. In a few years, they will probably make you read Catcher in the Rye if your high school hasn't banned it. It is a pretty damn good book mind you but one that has a love it or hate it relationship with the general public despite critical acclaim among literary circles.
