I guess the better word would be murdered, while an illegal act was being committed. Correct me if I am wrong, but murder during a home invasion gets you in some serious shit in the US.

I also want to know why armed commandos were sent in instead of riot police with rubber bullets, batons, and riot shields. It's kind of embarassing seeing commandos get their asses kicked by a lowly civilian mob, and the riot police would have also been perfectly capable in handling the situation with far less "shit hitting the fan."

..So when was the last time you saw riot police being deployed to a boat?

I dunno, when was the last time someone had to board a boat of unarmed rioters?
