Anyone read any good books recently?

Trust me, I'm not just spewing bullshit. I read probably 40 books a year, and a good 20-25 of those are fantasy/spec fic. Terry Goodkind is the WORST. I really, really recommend you pick up 'The Name of the Wind' by Patrick Rothfuss. It's one of the best books published in any genre in the last half decade--I promise you will be blown away by it. 

Whats wrong with Terry Goodkind? I haven't read any of his books so this is a legitimate question.

I concur btw with The Name of the Wind, that book was masterful. I just wish Patrick Rothfuss would release the second novel already, especially since he said he had already finished the entire trilogy.

He's gone into some detail on how those were very, very rough drafts, and that he's a perfectionist who needs his books to not just be good, not great, but fine-tuned to perfection--their ideal state.

That being said, he recently announced on his blog that the second book will be out in March 31, 2011. Which is a ways away still, unfortunately. 

I'll get back to you on Terry Goodkind tomorrow--I'm headed to bed and don't have the energy to type/link some of the miserable things that have forever turned me off to him. 

EDIT: Nice, AND an R. Scott Bakker fan. Have you read 'The Judging Eye' yet?
