Jaguar is used for many different things like -
- climate science, chemistry, materials science, nuclear energy, physics, bioenergy, astrophysics, geosciences, fusion, and combustion.
- The research included climate models of unprecedented resolution
- calculations of the flux of uranium into the Columbia River from aging underground storage facilities
- in-depth studies about impediments to producing bioethanol from plant material.
IBM Roadrunner - is used by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration
Pleiades is used by Nasa
- Extensive simulations of large computational problems for future space vehicle design;
- Development of increasingly detailed models of large-scale dark matter halos and galaxy evolution;
- Running coupled atmosphere-ocean models to assess decadal climate prediction skill for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Tianhe-I which is the second chinese supercomputer is used to carry out computations for petroleum exploration and aircraft simulation.
