If MS can deliver this, in large quantities (1 million units) sub 100 bucks and has 10 games available for launch...this may be a win for MS.

A bigger reason it didn't work was because the retailers not in on the deal were enraged, some of them (including Wal-mart?) refused to carry Saturn stuff I think after that.

It was KB Toys, not wal mart. But yes, you are right that was one of the contributing factors.
