I'm not sure why you're bringing the 360 into this thread? If it was a 360 though being 2 years 8 months old, then MS would fix it for free. (being within the 3 year warranty) Something which Sony won't do.
OT: That sucks that your PS3 broke down. I always wished that my (250gb slim)PS3 had PS2 BC, but since there seem to be quite a lot of them breaking down after all this time maybe it's better that it doesn't. I have 2 PS2's anyway, which helps.
Are you buying a new slim PS3? Are you going to fix and then sell of your 60gb PS3 and use the money for the slim?
