Having nothing much to do I decided to browse VGChartz and see if I could find something interesting. After a few minutes I came across the Top Seller list for the PS3, to my surprise I found something which struck me, not in a negative way though. Everyone loves LEGO, including myself and I have played many over the years, but I did not think that they sell as well as they appear to be. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga has sold more than some of the titles I assumed would do better.

I compiled a small list to illustrate my point. Games such as Dragon Age, MotorStorm and even Dead Space are considered to be great titles (not taking anything away from the LEGO franchise or the game itself) and have had great sales. From my point of view, a LEGO game is not a Day 1 purchase for me, I might consider it if I saw it in the bargain bin or as a special offer. Parents would pick it up as a complimentary game to their own purchase as they might not want their 7 year old to play GTA IV with them or is it that LEGO games are timeless and everyone of us can relate to LEGO, even though we have not be played with LEGO in many years, our memories would entice us to buy the game.

Of course, I should point of the Star Wars factor in this, as it probably plays a big role as it is one of the biggest franchises out there. Anyhow, I wanted to get this off my chest and see if others agree with me or have a different point of view.
