Alan Wake: Worst case of product placement in history of videogames?

I saw this on the G4 website:

I was wondering if anyone wanted to comment here about that.  The Verizon ad on TV seems WAY out of place.  I was thinking that ads and product placement can fit into about any game, if done right.  HOWEVER, if it is done wrong, it is horrible.  I can understand Verizon ad on the TV, but why is it all exciting when you are in the middle of a tense movie with a mood that say "fear" in the game (based on what I saw on the video).

Anyone want to comment here?
