I agree with this somewhat. One example of a hardcore gamer to me is one who plays a racing sim with a wheel while most console gamers will want play with some kind of aid (FM 3 play back) with a controller. Most of today's fps appeals to a wider audience which has stuff like autoheal with unlimited lives. I rememeber when some fps you had to manger your health and ammo. You used to have to get a Game Shark to get unlimited lives.(or at least you had to restart the level)
A hardcore gamers like to play both hardcore and casual games while the more casual gamer will not have the heart to play more hardcore games. There is nothing wrong with Megaman in my book but doesn't seem to be anything hardcore about it.
