daactual, Causal sales will definately drive Wii sales, but what about the 120 million PS2 owners?

There is a huge, vast, ungodly large market of gamers that bought PS2s and Xboxes that aren't going to go to the Wii. Only 22m of those 145m people have bought an 360/PS3. Where are they going to go? The Wii definately has very few games that would cater to that audience.
the ps2 was also a casual game system!! (just like ps1 and wii!) it mostly had a hardcore audience, but it also catered to the mainstream(which was probably about 34million consoles sold right there!!) the 360 isn't mainstream it's mostly hardcore (except for viva pinata and scene it!) the ps3 is mainstream because of it's bluray player!! if it's one thing i learned it is this:NO GAME CONSOLE CAN WIN THE GEN AFTER THE PS1 IF IT DOES CATER TO THE MAINSTREAM ALSO!!!

sorry but have to say your numbers on the casuals that bought a ps2 are really really low. casuals bought the ps2 for the dvd player and at the time of release was the cheapest dvd player for at least a few years and dont forget the double and triple buys wen one breaks u ave to replace it. so lets see take the 145 and divide by 3 then minus at least 80 percent is my guess for buying it for just the player itself. that is hwy if u didnt notice in the latter part of its life it didnt seel a game very fast and over 1 mil. the wii has hit this market of casuals and its the same people that has a wii showing others and they get addicted and wants one. i dont see the wii slowing down till we actually find out what the demand really is i mean 100 units per store sold out within a day here? what does that tell ya?
