3D gaming will not go mainstream until the majority of gamers have access to 3DTV's. Do the glasses have to go? Probubly I know here in Canada the glasses cost over a hundred dollars each. This is just to expensive for the average consumer. I think that other companies will pioneer new ways to watch 3D movies that might not include glasses.
In the end whether the glasses effect the mainstream market or not it will take at least ten years before it is fully adopted by the majority of tv owners. Just look at HDTV my uncle bought his first HDTV in the late 90's and only now is it picking up speed and becoming the new standard. I bet Sony will loose alot of money making 3D games for the 2% of the tv market that owns 3DTV's (Just a guess at %).
Fact is 3D becoming the new standard will take years if not a decade. I'm not holding my breath and I doubt Microsoft and Nintendo will start making their games in 3D. I mean seriously Nintendo hasn't even adopted HD yet their in no rush to jump into 3D!
