There was a level in the first world, I think it was the Flip-Top Galaxy, that was amazing. The first Galaxy didn't start to get that crazy for at least 30 stars. Galaxy 2 throws the crazy levels right at you at the beginning.

I think losing the hub world was awesome. That, along with the level design, make me feel like this game is a great balance between 3-D Mario and 2-D Mario. It's not as exploration-based now. It's more like each level is a really wacky obstacle course, and you just have to survive until you get to the end, like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Just now you find a star instead of a flagpole.

It's funny how not a single complaint is about the gameplay or level design. He just complains "it's all the same" and then "it's too different" and then "they put all the levels in a row so you could select them faster, but I still miss Mario 64's castle." I think GTA4 dropped more features than Galaxy 2, and those were everybody's favorite features, not something that was just in the way like a hub world.
