sorry, CGI-Quality |
So what should gaming be about? And also have you even played it?

Of course I played it! That would be somewhat less relevant to speak about a randomly game you haven't played yet.
Heavy Rain is somewhat more of an interactive movie than a core-gameplay experience. In fact, the controls are background and their only purpose is to drive the story.
In fact, the game is built upon a story and driven by your decisions, which is in itself something unique and Quantic Dream gave a good try. But I just fear more and more editors would try the same thing and make the gaming industry lose his identity at the expense of another genre, which is interactive movies.

Again, it would contribute to the innovations of the industry, not necessarily cause a decline it's quality. "Interactive movie" is somewhat of a vague term anyway, as most video games could be considered that. This isn't a medium that is taking off in droves though (like platformers, FPS titles, or RPGs). It's an underground genre with a new breakout hit. Sure, it will spark some future titles to try it out, but it won't become a saturated medium.

You must be right. It would be so disastrous to see this genre saturated like FPS had been this generation.
Let's hope Quantic Dream keep defying the rules of video gaming.
