It's perfectly accessible and nicely paced with lots of that CGI shit people love. It's good to start on.

But is it really the best FF to start with as opposed to say FF4 or FF7?

Binary solo doesn't have access to FF4 and 9 is better than 7 so he might as well jump on 9.

Yet FF7 is a very decent game in its own right and playing it after FF9 would hinder the experience.
