I'm trying out contacts for the first time. They feel pretty comfortable, though they do tend to irritate after several hours of use. My main beef is that my vision isn't as sharp as it is with glasses, largely thanks to a slight astigmatism in one of my eyes. It's good enough for out in the world, but it's a total pain if I want to focus on text.

I love being able to wipe moisture off my corrective lenses with my eyelids though. Glasses are lousy in bad weather.

So my answer is both.

Maybe your doctor didn't deem it irritating enough, but IMO if you're not happy with your vision like that, you should talk to him/her.

I have astigmatism as well and that's not a necessary thing to endure with contacts (and I'm pretty sure it's been there for years, for both rigid and soft contacts).

This is what I have.

Yeah, I've got a toric lens in that eye, and we tried a couple different powers, but they both seem to be a little off. Like I said, it's good enough for most things, I just find glasses more comfortable if I'm doing a lot of reading farther than 18 inches from my face.
