I have it for 360 and it's a blast. there aren't any lobbies. you just join a free roam session with other players. after that you can pick what kind of game you want (shootout, gold rush, etc) or stay in free roam with other players. it's a lot of fun.
I don't think communication is a big deal unless you're in a party playing with friends.
