Sony DID SAY why there were shortages which was because of the new model trying to get into production.

And for n+1th time : Stop spreading this absolute nonsense. Sony had 13mio units manufactured according to regional forecasts for fy 2009. 13mio units were delivered into the regions and it so happens that America underestimated the demand. End of Story.

The mere idea that Sony stopped the manufacturing chain just to wait for the new RSX chips (or _any_ chip) to arrive is so stupid, electric sparks out of your keyboard should have zappped you when you typed that nonsense. Do you really think everybody would have just sat down and waited/gone to Hawaii just in case the chips would have been 2 weeks late?

And especially for you for the n+2nd time: Sony delivered exactly the amount of PS3s that were ordered for the fj. Not one unit more, not one unit less. And this idea may be completely foreign to you but in order to deliver those units, they ordered exactly the right amount of components to be able to deliver these orderd units.

Good Lord: What is so diffcult to understand in the concept that:

a) A company delivers exactly the amount of goods its subsidies ordered from it

b) A company makes sure that they actually have the components to build these units ?

PS: After weeks of no 120G units on shelves, Switzerland's shops are slowly filling with 120G units again. And guess what: Model CHK2004A, the "old" slim model...

You know if you actually understood what I was saying you could have saved yourself a damn large amount of time.  What a waste of a post.

I never EVER said they stopped production to wait on the new model, I said production was slowed because they were TRYING to start productoin of the new model.  They don't just pump out machines the day before they hit the shelves, they pump them out a good few months in advance.  In order to do that, they had to take up a few of the production lines which is why demand was not able to be met.  Not ALL of the production lines.  They do have more than one in case you didn't know this.  They can work on producing mutliple models at the same time until the new units are completely ready to be produced in mass as the only model.

I'm so sorry you misunderstood or did not know this.

PS:  Of course the new units aren't going to be everywhere yet.  They've only just begun to slip out onto shelves amongst the other production lines.  It will be another month or two or so before you start seeing all new models.

the 40nm RSX models still haven't started selling

and you saying that new models wouldn't be everywhere IS BULLSHIT.

PS3 are still in shortages WW and that means SONY is selling only the few amounts as fast as they can make them,if new models were in production like you said in MARCH end then first there wouldn't be any shortages and second the new models would be in retail stock and would nowhere take 1-2months to get them.

if there are shortages mean SONY is making less and selling them as fast as they can,if they were to make 40nm RSX,they would be in RETAIL now.

they don't pump the machines the nex day they produce it but they don't take 2 months like you said from MARCH end to supply atleast when shortages are happening

SONY was already making profit in countries like JAPAN,OTHER countries where PS3's are high priced and Europe,so they would have sent the newer models where they were making a loss that is US
