I would say the following franchises are the biggest and most critically acclaimed franchises the PC has to offer:
Warcraft (includes Warcraft I, II, III, WoW, and all other expansions which I may have missed)
Half-Life (Half Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Half Life 2, Counterstrike Source, Portal, and all other expansions which I may have missed)
The Elder Scrolls (Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, Morrowind, Oblivion, and all other expansion which I may have missed)
