Here's the best example, the PS1 was sicontinued in 2006, but games continued for it until '07, if I'm not mistaken. The PS2 will likely be discontinued in mid-late 2011 and the last games around early 2012.

Think about it, the thing still sold 1 million in it's 10th year on the market. It's the biggest home console, ever. The only two consoles able to keep up with that were the NES & PS1.
