the wii and the ps3 are the only 2 consoles of this gen who are guaranteed to see above 50 million in sales. (360 is only supported heavily by america so it is impossible for it to achieve 100 million) the wii caters to a larger audience. the ps3 can practically sell on brand name alone. my question is the WILL THE WII ACHEIVE 100 MILLION FIRST OR THE PS3? another question i have is WHICH CONSOLE WON'T ACHIEVE 100 MILLION? any thoughts people?

The PS3 cannot practically sell on brand name alone. This is what Sony thought upon launch, they also assumed people would be willing to get a second job just to pay for their console and now they are paying the price for their arrogance. That said, PS3 is likely to increase sales and defeat the Xbox 360 next year.. but I still think it will struggle to sell 50 million by the end of its lifetime.. its been a year and it still has not really caught on.

The Wii on the other hand, cannot be stopped. The thing is still sold out nearly everywhere in North America and Europe.. its nearly impossible to guage what the ceiling will be for WW sales but I think a lot of people who doubted John Lucas' prediction of 60 million sales by the end of next year will be eating some serious crow. If the Wii were a fad, it would have slowed down by now but its unprecidented popularity continues unabated. The Wii will sell over 150 million in its lifetime.
