Am curious how this will turn out if it's true.
If anyone gets the slightest hint of sony asking money for their online services you can imagine the flame-wars arising... Even when it turns out that's not the case.
They really need to be carefull with this kind of thing, for people like to bash even without confirmations. And bad publicity will cut into sales and rep.
Maybe you need to become a premium member to play FFXIV?
