It had that RTS one, and ODST... so lately I would disagree, but every company has a right to milk their franchise as most popular franchises do, as that's why you try to create a brand.
Like I think Final Fantasy is being milked with the remakes, and the spinofs such as Dissidia and Crisis Core. But I love the games so I do not care... milking isn't really a bad thing, because In my view they either create games various fans enjoy which is good. Or they milk it and create bad games, and then you go out of business :P.

I would say the least milked popular franchise is Half Life

Allow me to rephrase my qoute: "Halo is one of the least popular game franchises. Plus, popular game series has spin-offs. Halo had two spin-offs, one of them being a over-priced expansion pack. 343 Industries are planning to create more Halo related products until 2015.

Franchises like:

  • Guitar Hero
  • Resident Evil
  • Mario
  • Final Fantasy
  • Call of Duty
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Street Fighter
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Sonic
  • Mortal Kombat (Back in the day)
  • Pac-Man (Back in the day)
  • Tony Hawk

Are far more milked than the Halo series.
