First of all, the link you just provided me was to another magazine interview. Not an investors briefing. Second of all, stating to the press or stating to investors you want a game to sell a certain amount wasn't my main point here. My main point was each title, they keep pumping more and more money into the advertising and funding of each game. As if they EXPECT it to sell more. They can say to either their investors, magazines or Jack Thompson for all it matters that they expect it to sell a certain amount, but their effort shows that they want it to perform better. If someone sells 100 apples by putting forth $10 in advertising, and then turns around and sells only 80 apples with $50 woth of advertising, they can't say it was all 'as planned'

Yeah i think your on to something with that; i mean you really think that Wada, Kitase & the FF team said to themselves, lets spend all this time and money on a game that dosent exceed what we did before. i'm not saying they set out with the goal of outselling FF7, but i think it was something they had thought about. and i bet they spent loads on advertising.
i think it was on finalfantasy.net or somthing, i have heard rumours that wada wanted to surpass the sales of FF7, but he never provided a figure, i think after it became unrealistic he brought that figure down to 6 mil. in that release data trailer, Kitase said that FF13 will exceed all expectations and the presenter mentioned how FF13 was possibily the most anticipated game of all time. theres no doubt in my mind they wanted to top FF7.
