ff10 didnt get 10 million because evn though it is seen as classic nw, when it relesd ther ws lots of negativty about it & ppl sed it wsnt as gud as ff9, ff8 & ff7. so word of mouth stpped it getting to 10 million.

I thnk FF10 is overtracked here, on wikipedia it has link to investor report saying FF10 has shipped 6.6 Million.

FF15 won't. RPG's dnt sell tht much anymore. FF15 wnt even sell more than FF13 which will do betwn 6 - 7 Million. Expect ff15 to do ff9 level sales

FF10 also didn't get to 10 million because its not as big of a series as Square thinks it is.  And none of the following games have.  They do this every gen.  They try and make a bigger and better Final Fantasy and think it'll sell just because they made it prittier and threw more money and hype behind it.

And I agree.  In the next gen, they'll probably try to do the exact same thing.  Make an even MORE expensive game to try to build up the hype again from what they lost with FFXIII...and instead, it'll only sell 3/4 the amount of FFXIII.  Because instead of focusing on what's important, they'll just completely change everything again.

On that last point, i dont think sqaure will ever let this type of thing happen again. i'm not saying FF13 is a bad game, but i am saying that i dont think they'll make a game like that again. it wasnt recieved as well by western reviewers as they had hoped. and it has 3 stars out of 5 on amazon japan, and thats out of 2000 japanese fans, which is their home market. so i'm hoping they realise what they have to focus for the next one. also hopefully it will be helmed by a different team, not Kitase, Toriyama, Normora etc, so it wont neccessarily be another expensive cutscene fest.

the reason i think that FF15 could hit the 8-10 million mark, is because of assassins creed 1&2, i know they're not RPGs, but they have similar elements, like character driven narrative, and a strong single player story driven game. and thats why i think theres a market out there for this type of game.

We'll see.  But they've done it multiple times now.  And we've seen in multiple interviews that the people who work on the Final Fantasy series don't really seem to care about critisism or reviews, or even sales.  Just about 'their vision'.  And that can be a bad sign, as even if they think their vision is the 'right' one and just keep pressing on...when sales are going down.

u cnt blame them. They did cater to fans once. whn old skool fans wnted ld school FF they gave them FF9 & it sold the worst out of all PS FF's (FF13 will outsell it soon).

Sales aren't going dwn, ff13 will do more than ff9 & 12. When a  FF does below 5 Million its time to wrry.

Sales are going down.  Its a lopsided and gradual decline, but sales are going down.

Its also a case of different goals.  Wada and the 'CEOs' (or financial and advertising side) excpected FFXIII to do as good or better than FFVII, simply because it was on a new platform and was 'bigger and better' than FFVII.  Plus because they were pumping more money into it than any FF game ever seen.  Where the developers of the game such as Kitase and Nomura were just trying to make a game and didn't have any real goal in mind.

That's the problem.  They don't have a focus.  The same thing happened with FFX as well.  People consider that game a success because it sold well, but it still didn't reach the sales of FFVII.  And the goal set by the company was to surpass the sales of FFVII, as they put a lot more money and advertising into FFX.

I already corrected u on this in another thread. U keep saying this all the time but ur wrong. When they wer talking to their investors they sed FF13 is expcted to ship 6 Million. Later on they told a magazine they "hope" it can sell like ff7, duh, they did tht to hype it. Their tru expctations are those they laid out in financial meeting. And that was 6 Million.

Wht is the point in correcting u in the othr thread if u jst ignore it?

So FF13 will do bettr than expcted in sales. Wit FF10 however they sed they expcted 10 million in the financial investors meeting, so tht did underperform.
