This is a huge pile of bullshit.

The article was written ten years, MONTHS after FF9's release, and the amount of time needed to fully remake EACH of those for the PS2 would make mountainous amounts of time.

Once again: never listen to gamespot.

i was a bit sckeptical as well, but the triva bit in that link says that there were plans to remake FF9&7, i'm sure it will say that for the FF8 section as well. I'm not sure if it would take that long actully, if you think back FFX-2 was made over 6 months (i think), so i think its reasonable to assume that 7.8 & 9 could've had similar development timespans, maybe a year each, so they could come out 1 year after the other, because at that point sqaure probabily had a great working knowledge of the PS2 and the game engine they used to make FF10.

i'm sure Kitase has actully said that if they could do a remake of FF7 in one year they would do it, so you never know it could happen. and i'm not sure about FF5 & 6, but i heard some stuff recently about how they were difficult to make in the same way as FF4 DS because the space on the game card is limited, so we could see some type of 3DS thing with that.

to be honest though, as great as remakes would be, i would prefer more focus on newer games.
