Yeah i can imagine FF12 was supposed to be released a lot sooner than 2006/2007, sakaguchi was the executitive producer for that, which explains why it took so long, because he left sqaure around that time i believe.

about FF10: 10 million, it did do extremely well, but do you think FFXV could reach that? it would be awesome for an FF title to reach that height again. oh and why do you guys think FF10 didnt sell 10 million??

ff10 didnt get 10 million because evn though it is seen as classic nw, when it relesd ther ws lots of negativty about it & ppl sed it wsnt as gud as ff9, ff8 & ff7. so word of mouth stpped it getting to 10 million.

I thnk FF10 is overtracked here, on wikipedia it has link to investor report saying FF10 has shipped 6.6 Million.

FF15 won't. RPG's dnt sell tht much anymore. FF15 wnt even sell more than FF13 which will do betwn 6 - 7 Million. Expect ff15 to do ff9 level sales

FF10 also didn't get to 10 million because its not as big of a series as Square thinks it is.  And none of the following games have.  They do this every gen.  They try and make a bigger and better Final Fantasy and think it'll sell just because they made it prittier and threw more money and hype behind it.

And I agree.  In the next gen, they'll probably try to do the exact same thing.  Make an even MORE expensive game to try to build up the hype again from what they lost with FFXIII...and instead, it'll only sell 3/4 the amount of FFXIII.  Because instead of focusing on what's important, they'll just completely change everything again.

why did u say u agree? I dnt agree with anythng ur saying. The franchise tht is made prettier, costlier with more hype each gen is called Dragon Quest, not final fantasy. ff changes everytime, they try to experment, sumtimes it works (FF13, FF8) sumtimes it dusn't work (FF12).

when i sed ff15 I assumed it will be out this gen at end of console cycle.

What are you talking about?  The only game in the Dragon Quest lineup that has ever tried to shoot for 'high end graphics' is Dragon Quest VIII.  And even then, putting Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2 was hardly a decision for the graphics; the PS2 being the weaker of the three consoles last gen.  All the Dragon Quest games were not shooting for high end graphics at all.  Its Final Fantasy that went for the high end graphics, as a way to distinguish itself from other RPGs.  Even Sakaguchi and Kitase themseles have stated part of the emphasis of Final Fantasy is its 'heavy focus on the cinematic feel'.  And it worked for quite a while.  It just doesn't work as well now as many RPGs have caught up to it in graphical capabilities and focus on cutscenes.  Especially in the west.

But in terms of Dragon Quest trying to be a graphical powerhouse, that's never been its MO.  It focuses more on gameplay, character interaction and exploration.  In fact, Dragon Quest IX even went on the less costly and less graphically powerful system, the DS.  Yes, it may be one of the best looking games on the DS, but it still chose the DS over the 'HD systems' for better publicity and sales.
