To be honest, 891 million to a company like Sony isn't as bad as it sounds, especially considering the PS3 hardware itself is apparently profiting at this point. Things are looking WAY up for Sony, and with the D-listing of the PS2 from NPD, I imagine all focus will now go to PSP and the PS3.

so did most of those losses come from the Ps3?

Unlikely. They have sevearl factors (I'd imagine) that could be contributing factors.

also a new revision of the Cell processor going to 22nm scale! will be soon released at IBM

"

IBM’s effort in shrinking the Cell/B.E. is done solely with Sony in mind. As the PlayStation 3 is the largest application of Cell/B.E. technology, IBM apparently tailored the smaller chip for cooler and cheaper consoles, rather than for increased performance and functionality. Such is hinted at an IBM document, stating, “To guarantee the proper operation of existing gaming software, the exact cycle-by-cycle machine behavior, including operating frequency, must be preserved.”

So

it would make the PS3 even cheaper! to produce
