While I won't say you not to dream, because we gotta dream in life to achieve some goals, you gotta understand that even terrific musicians struggle to get their band into the mainstream. There's too much bands out there, if you plan in doing one, always try to innovate, show something new. And that means originals, if you go by covers band you're screwed. But a cover here and there doesn't hurt though.
