it said on rolling news that 5 year fixed term,like it was new,isn't that what it is or does it mean they can't call for a new election if it goes wrong i didn't quite get it all

I'd hate a 5 year fixed term, too long but having a 'maximum' term would be better, so a party can call it in 4 or even 3 years if they want.
