It's nice to have threads not pertaining to "My console is better than yours". OT I agree with the author in that we will be playing on consoles in the foreseeable future. The idea of download only and cloud gaming is great in theory for piracy reasons, but I personally like having a hard copy of games that I pay full retail price for. Games under $20, I have no problem downloading and not being able to lend out or resell. I also like the idea of a console in front of me. It's something tangible. I'd rather have a console than to pay a monthly service fee for maintaining servers just to play games I have already purchased. Plus, Nintendo and Microsoft have both shown there is still plenty of money to be made in the hardware business. Sony took their early lumps with the PS3 but it looks like they too are finally out of the red on each PS3 sold. I doubt they will make the same mistake again. Plus don't forget all the accessories that each console manufacturer gets to gouge consumers on. |
