What are the odds that between a gay republican candidate and any other republican candidate in existence, the republicans would pick the gay guy to run for president? Neither party would put forth an openly gay candidate to run, they wouldn't want to take the risk. I mean we can't even get gay civil unions in most of the US, what are the odds we'd have a first husband in the whitehouse with his husband the president? |
People would of said the same thing about a Black Candidate. Hell, they did. Not too long ago it was thought the Republicans wouldn't run a woman, now Sarah Palin is out there as a possibility.
It's just a matter of when the Christian Right part of the party gets moved down a bit.
As for the Democrats... I think they would... they've been running the risk lately of the Homosexual lobby up and revolting. They could honestly form an unlikely alliance with those Tea Party guys... they are much less racist and homophobic then people try and make them out to be. They actually tend to have a decent amount of Democrats already.
You should of seen the Scene in California a couple weeks ago. Obama was talking, Gay protestors started complainging and protesting at Obama... with the Pro-Obama crowd shouting them down with "Yes we can!".
The Democrats are losing the gays... the only reason they haven't fully lost them is there is nowhere to go... it's the same with the Black vote even though Obama is president.
It's not inconceivable that they are forced to run a gay candidate soon to avoid losing them.
