I wish they just stuck to one formula (FF7, but I'm biased)
If FF never changed from the steampunk or whatever established in 7, people would complain less. The fact that the formula changes so drastically gives players nothing to expect.

For example, Mario & Zelda may get stale at times, but they always keep their fanbases coming back. With FF, it is at the point where either you love it or you don't. That can go for any franchise, but with FF you can like the previous entry but hate the next.

tht wud be boring & ppl wud get bored eventually. My favrite FF's are FF7/8/13 so obviusly I prefer the modern style ones, bt just limiting it to steampunk wud be boring.

So keeping the same formula would get boring ... I guess Mario didnt get the memo :P

eh but I thought the new mario is more boring for that exact reason. Especially sunshine. Galaxy was an improvement. But my guess for me personally is galaxy 2 is going = sunshine.
Plus Mario has the benefit of using the same universe and characters, and story over and over and over again., Final Fantasy doesn't have that advantage other than a few side references. Plus anyways mario mechanics changed as well throughout the games slightly. The best one IMO was when they threw out most of the mechanics and made mario 64, and mario RPG
