Music... but because of "orchestrated everything" its harder and harder for someone to compose the next Mario Theme. Songs must be simple to be catchy.

Catchy and simple music is made to please the inexperienced ear, I must say I prefer music with a lot of resources in a game which adds to atmosphere, if musicians cant make a good orchestrated composition for a game it means they arent talented enough or lack education. For me, better music is better for a game.

And I cant answer the question in the OP, both are important to me, I enjoy music more but I cant play without video.

Nooooo, please don't bring the "hardcore vs. casual" baloney to music!  If you're gonna go down that road, you better not enjoy any songs in 4/4, because that's the simple casual time signature for the inexperienced ear.

I just think its getting common to dislike anything that has harmonies in it and doesnt rely on catchyness, nothing to do with harcore/ casual, I just think there is a rejection of "epic"/orchestrated music just becasue some people associate it with gaming going movie style.
