I liked the old stores better. Never had a problem with a Babbage's or an old (pre-GameStop) EB Games employee. I feel like the troubles began when GS acquired everything and all the stores began to homogenize.
I don't think every store has difficult employees, just there is this air of superiority when it comes to their stores.
I also usually go into the store knowing exactly what I am looking for and what my price is, so they can't simply pull my leg about something I don't agree with.
Best experience: Went into a store, it was busy, but the employee on the floor was happy to answer my questions and helped me get the game I was looking for.
Worst experience: Went to get AC: for Answer and DeadSpace for PS3 in 2008. Their copy of AC was the last one (the shelf copy) so they had to give me the box off the shelf with all the nasty tags stuck to it (wish i just didn't get it) and the employee put the game in. I went back up to college the next day and when I took the game out to play it, I found out she put in AC4. THE WRONG GAME. I had to ship it back home and get my dad to go in and replace it for me. I haven't gone back to that store since then.
