Did Nintendo ever fight §Sony this gen? It looks more like Ninty went its way, while Sony was hammering its own bollocks, at least during the first part of PS3 life.
As for Apple, it will certainly be huge also in portable gaming, but this doesn't mean it will be in direct competition with portables, there will be some overlapping of their markets, but partial. Games have been done on cellphones for some time by now, nethertheless portable market grew anyway.
