| suckameoff said: i think its more that people dont realize the wii has won or dont consider it part of the race because its not HD. well the wii did win and it won without HD so suck it up I think 360 sales are higher mainly because people bought multiple 360's...it's only 150-200 to replace if you buy an arcade 360 which was a genius move by microsoft who probably anticipated the 360's breaking and knew they needed to offer a cheaper replacement model also the ps3 was not competitively priced when it release and was tough to develop for which lead to buggy games and slow sales. but now the ps3 is competitively priced, a much better buy to the consumer and i feel it has more lasting power than the 360 will. blu ray sales will play a factor too in the next few years to come |
No one discusses the Wii because both sides admit defeat to Nintendo. There's no need to even throw that into the mix.
The PS3 at the time was not overpriced, it was simply to expensive for consumers to buy at the time. Yes it is more competatively priced for mass consumer markets now, I agree with that.
I'm really sick of this hard to develop for the PS3 talk. Anyone worth a salt and understands processor archetecture, (which most of us gamers should) could take a quick trip over the MIT website and go over their open courseware for the Cell BBE. America's pioneering spirit is gone and most companies want to deal with tech that is comfortable, profitable, and familar.
When it came down to how to make a powerful machine that was profitable, M$ gets my kudos. So M$ developed a machine that's on the high end of an archetecture that is running out of steam and it performs well, but unfortunately prooves just how dated that computing platform is. The PS3 has the Cell which is proving to be the future in computing becuase some great first part studio's proved that the Cell could out perform the 360 tri-core archetecture. Sorry to say, everyone is on that band wagon now. The power of the PS3 is no longer theorectical and now everyone wants a piece of the action.
To summarize, the PS3 being hard to dev for is absolute BS, it's just different and modern business dictates a vehement disgust for different, experimental, and risky.
To whomever was mad becuase there are more Sony fanboys here at Vgchartz; if you don't like being outnumbered, go to Gamespot. It's the 360 friendly site.
-- Nothing is nicer than seeing your PS3 on an HDTV through an HDMI cable for the first time.
