That's 1*$50=$50. But let's say 3/1000 buy the game and then resell is later. That's 3*$50=$150. And that's probably way too low for people buying the game new and then reselling it. Look if we are going to be taking the grandscale of things, piracy is still more beneficial than use-game sales. Both the US and Dutch government showed that piracy can't be said ruins any form of sale, meanwhile it says that it increases incomes from other venues that pertain to the product.
Meanwhile if you have a guy who pays $5-$10 less, it is almost guaranteed he would buy it new if it wasn't available as used.
On the individual scale, it doesn't fucking matter since the developer sees no money. As far as you yourself are concerned you deprived a developer of $50.
