However, I do think we are looking to deep into this. And they can add software emulation (if it's possible any time they want) Sony killed it because of hardware costs thus going to the cost of consumers of 500$ and 600$ PS3's. Because when they removed it they lowered the price. Because I would assume they didn't want to keep over supporting the PS2, while the PS3 died an ugly death
the PS3 was their future for 1. Games 2. Blu-Ray IP, (for which they own around 25% I think in royalties, because the PS3 basically killed HD DVD). Maybe their desision was wrong. But hindsight is always 20/20.
Now if they can release an update with software emulation and PS2 PSN games that would be the best thing for everyone. But I don't know if they're going to do that.
