I think that this conversation is incomplete without mentioning Bungie (Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach and future multi-platform games).
Also Nintendo has made 2 or 3 truly transforming games that cannot be ignored as they have helped usher in the era of both Natal and Move.(Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort)
I truly hope Nintendo has some more game-changing games this generation, but nothing else in their lineup has been truly exemplary.

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith
Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D
