If Sony doesn't bundle the Move with each PS3 sold this fall, and if it costs $80 or more, I just don't see that many people buying into it.

And if the install base isn't large, no 3rd party developer is going to bother supporting it. It will either be a tacky addon to an existing control scheme or used in the occasional PSN game.

They said at one point that it would be available in the spring, so I am wondering if they delayed it to have more time to gets costs under control, so they could sell it bundled at a break-even point.

Personally, I think the PS Eye costs them about $10 to make, and ditto for the Move. That means to bundle it they would have to save $20 somehow. The only item I could foresee them cutting to get costs down further would be to reduce the size of the HDD (down to 80 GB?). The other option would be to have a $349 Move bundle with a 120 GB HDD.

The could risk including the PS Eye and Move controller in a $299 bundle, and hope that people will buy the Navigator or additional Move controllers to make up the difference. Considering how much money they've lost so far on the PS3, I don't see this happening.

Definitely no price cut this year.
