"No religion accepts us as the person we know ourselves to be. Rather, we are told that we are inadequate, unsatisfactory and helpless. We fear that this is so, and to give us hope we construct a fantasy about how we are superior to those who do not share our views. On these grounds we feel entitled to force our views on non-believers."

Also, why are many religions against homosexuality?

Those images in the back are full of naked men and women casually acknowledging each other. This is a religious symbol in a very well-known chapel and it's full of homosexual images made many years before any of us were even born. So why is homosexuality unacceptable to some of the more narrow-minded religious followers?

Sadly that whole quote is based on the flawed appearance that religious EXTREMISTS give.

A true religion, in my case Christianity (and definitely not Catholicism), teaches us to accept ourselves as we are, that God loves us as no matter what.  It does not say we are inadequate and helpless.  In fact it teaches us to be fearless and is there to better ourselves.  A true Christian would not try to act superior or force their beliefs on anyone.  Nor would they reject the individuals who are homosexuals.  After all, all sin is equal in the sense that any sin at all can be forgiven (again, not Catholic) by God's mercy.  I don't wanna keep going because I do not want to make it seem like I'm preaching when I'm not.  I just hate when things like this are spoken in ignorance.

True religion is about helping people treat everyone with care, concern, equality, respect, love, etc.

I hate how extremists like terrorists and some popular southern baptists and whatnot give religion in general a bad name when its true form is no where near such things.

I wish all Christians were like you nightsurge.

To be honest the best Christian I know is actually a co-worker of mine who is a Jehova's Witness (I call her a J-Dub), she follows the spirit of the Bible (and the letter when it makes sense) pretty much 100% of the time, and is never obnoxious about it. But if she did want to get obnoxious, at least she'd have a leg to stand on since she actually acts like Jesus told her to.
