Better than RE? Possibly? Better/scarier than Silent Hill? No way in hell - way to much gun-ho action not to mention the 'compulsory' vehicle section in the trailer. I'm not saying it'll be bad in anyway, just as far as horror goes, Silent Hill2 & 3, even the Room , will beat it hands down.

I have to agree. From what I've seen in videos, the music seems more action paced than just scary. Silent Hill just has everything nailed down, from the music, to the atmosphere, and the story, and monsters...I doubt even this will give me the same creeps that Silent Hill did.

Im a fan of Silent Hill but this game is gonna be way scarier, the whole Monster things made it less scary for me considering the fact that monster are illogical....But where Alan Wake really shines is that its gonna give you chills without the blood in gore, but instead with a spooky atmoshperic story that those games wont come even close too!!! ITS ABOUT TIME

CANT WAIT

Everyone will have their own view, but from what's been shown of Alan Wake I think it'll be a fun action thriller, but I doubt the majority of horror game fans will view it as being more genuinely unsettling than the best Silent Hill titles.  Alan Wake just looks too Western actiony and obvious to me.

Should be fun though - but I haven't seen anything that looks truly unsettling about it yet.

I'm pretty excited for WAKE, but I don't even get the feeling, from looking at it, that it's going to be much like SILENT HILL, at least not anymore. When it was first unveiled, perhaps. Today, nah.

Of course that's not to slight it. I just don't see it being much like SILENT HILL, nor will it make the same impact. WAKE doesn't look half as disturbing and unsettling (as you put it). It'll be a different take on the horror genre.

Yah - that's how I feel.  I'm looking forward to playing it, but I'm very sure it's going to be a lot more of a thriller than horror.  I guess an analogy would be Alien and Aliens for me, with Alien as the horror movie and Aliens as the thriller.  Both good, both different.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
