When you have a big exclusive release it makes you wonder how it would sell on the other format. (This) Next week we will see how well Harry Potter performed on each of the formats which will be interesting. |
It depends on the demographic. For example, 300 has sold about 1.9:1 BD:HD, where as Planet Earth has sold about .9:1 BD:HD (though lately sales have picked back up). The Departed and the much more recent Ocean's 13 have both sold about 1.65:1 BD:HD.
I think HP will sell a little bit better than 1.6:1 in favor of Blu-Ray, as that is the general trend, but also because gamers (thus ps3 owners) are more likely to embrace such a work of fantasy, and the fact that people our age (well, my age at least) grew up with Harry, and often have a sentimental attachment to the series, and will be more likely to purchase OotP and rebuy the rest of the set. Of course, that's all my opinion.
