It looks ....alright. Is the best way to put it. Too much of the actual gameplay reminds me of your standard Unreal Engine, Bioshock-ish type of game. The graphics look very good but not as good as Uncharted 2/God of War III (IMHO, the two best looking games right now). Graphically, it reminds of a tad of Heavy Rain. Certain parts are going to look fantastic while others will look downright mediocre or horrible even. But I feel Heavy Rain has some graphical prowess over Alan Wake.
The actual gameplay is where I am concerned for this game however. I have yet to see much that intrigues me from that standpoint. If it can hit on the magic that Resident Evil 1 captured so many years ago, then this game will be a cult classic though.
I would say it's probably going to hit a 87 on Metacritic. I doubt at that critical acclaim it will achieve GOTY but it's possible if it stands out enough. I can say that I won't be purchasing it on day one. Red Dead Redemption is getting that nod.
I'll be honest in saying that for a game that's been in development for so long, I am a tad underwhelmed.
